A few weeks ago, I wrote about the man Jesus in a post called, “The Real Identity of Jesus” ( https://laruspress.com/the-real-identity-of-jesus-is-jesus-man-or-god/ ).
Another’s teaching triggers my own thought
Recently, I was listening to the last teaching that Ravi Zacharias recorded before he died. He spoke about the temptation / testing of Jesus in the wilderness, after his forty days of fasting.
Have a look at Matthew Chapter 4 to consider…
As I was listening, a thought occurred to me: If Jesus were not a man, would Satan think he could tempt him? If Satan saw Jesus as GOD, then surely he would not try. Satan would not quote scripture to GOD — but he would to a man whom he was attempting to trick.
Jesus defeated Satan, quoting scripture, being of sound mind and purpose, linked to the Father in faith, truth, love and common will. Jesus was the son of GOD, only doing His will, but what does that mean?
History
Jesus came to earth as a baby, born of a virgin, fathered by the Holy Spirit of GOD. But he was flesh. He was a man. And in being a man, he defeated the sin of the first Adam, he defeated temptation of Satan, he died and rose again, defeating all of our sins.
I am not saying Jesus is not GOD. I am saying Jesus is a man.
Let us consider, pray and ask for GOD’s help to understand. As in John 16:13 it says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
Help us Father, to see you, to see Jesus – our beloved Yeshua, to see the Spirit, as you see, as you are, as you breathe and live and love us; allow us to see You.
In the precious name of Yeshua/Jesus,
Blessings and Amen.
