Prioritising: This World is not AS important as the Next: a reflection

Sitting in my prayer chair

I was in the place I prefer to sit if I’m going into the Word and/or in prayer for an extended time, and I realised something today to a new depth.

Following Jesus is key to Life; therefore this world is not AS important as the next. This is preparation and yet, I STILL tend to focus on the scheduling of my time and the priorities of this world, rather than to follow the Spirit as He leads and prepares me for the Next world.

And that’s the wrong way around

I need to focus on the prayer time more, allowing the Spirit to take me where He wills, and engage with everything with the view to how it is relevant to the Long Term, not as it is for this day.

The balance is, to allow today to be the focus and let tomorrow take care of itself,

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:34)

Ironic isn’t it; while we want to live in the Freedom the Messiah brings us, we get caught up in day-to-day life. That’s natural.

But we need to live in the supernatural

As I engage with the LORD in prayer and praise, I prefer to sit for hours. Help me LORD to live that preference, and not to get caught up in the immediate.

A time management expert once said, ‘There is the important and the urgent. Usually the urgent squeezes out the important.’

Well, what is MOST important is to follow into eternity the Call Jesus has placed upon us. Let me surrender my timetable LORD, to you and only to you, looking into the future not with care or concern, but with dedication and patience, knowing the things of this world are temporary, and the Call from you is everlasting. Help me to prioritise accordingly.

In the precious name of Yeshua – Jesus,

Amen
