GOD’S STORY part 73 GOD says “GO!”

When GOD says “Go!”

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.

I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)

Abram’s father Terah had led Abram, Sarai and Lot out of Ur. Then he died. They must have settled in Haran for a while in order for it to become “your country”.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

GOD is emphatic

GOD sounds very commanding, doesn’t He? “Get out” He says. But then He makes a huge promise. Abram will be a nation; he will be blessed and his name will be great. Those who bless him will receive blessing, those who curse him will be cursed and the whole earth will be blessed because of Abram.

That’s quite a promise. A sort of “offer he cannot refuse”.

The cost

But there is a cost to obedience: to leave his family, his father’s house, and to go to an unknown land (again).

Weighing up the cost

When GOD calls us, we need to obey. But we also need to count the cost, so we know what we’re getting into.

What about you? IF GOD called you to leave all and go somewhere unknown to you, would you go? WHEN GOD promises you great blessing, do you believe Him?

GOD’S STORY part 74 Abram’s Faith

Did Abram obey?

“So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.” (Genesis 12:4)

To what degree do you gauge Abram’s faith?

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

How did GOD gauge Abram’s faith?

It seems to me that Abram was not entirely obedient to GOD, having brought his nephew with him from Haran, even though had GOD told him to leave his family behind in Genesis 12:1,

“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house”.

But GOD held unto His promises to Abram.

In the long story of Abram — then Abraham’s — life, GOD entrusts a nation to him. And eventually, though the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, all who accept Him are part of GOD’s family, adopted as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s descendants.

Truly GOD honoured His promise that Abraham would be the father of many nations.

And we see Holy Spirit through the Paul in Romans endorsing the faith of Abraham (formerly Abram), accounting his faith for righteousness (Romans 4:22).

We don’t have to be perfect

Life is a journey and a learning curve.

We need to be saved to be a part of Jesus’ family… a part of the descendants of Abraham. But as we commit to GOD and as we “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling,” (Philippians 2:12) we draw nearer to GOD and He draws nearer to us (James 4:8).

Faith, obedience, journey

Therefore, although without faith we have nothing, yet as we grow in faith and obedience, as we walk this journey with Jesus, we can trust that GOD is merciful in our failings and encourages us in our triumphs.

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

GOD is gracious. He was gracious to Abraham and He is gracious to us. That’s part of GOD’s Story. His grace is sufficient. Hallelujah! Faith is the key, and that faith comes from GOD almighty to all those who ask.

For Mothers

For Mothers: Peace

Peace can be identified in many ways: inner peace of mind; familial peace and harmony in the home; political peace within and between nations: these are three general concepts of peace.

As mothers, we can sow peace by teaching our families to love and to forgive.

What is love

Love is kindness in action. Love is forgiving wrongs. Love is accepting differences. Love is encouraging unity even in diversity. Love is respecting others and oneself. Love is vital within family and community.

Mother’s opportunity to teach

Mothers sow love in the home by finding peaceful solutions. Mothers sow love through self acceptance and teaching others to forgive themselves and others. Mothers sow love by teaching others to apologise and take responsibility for mistakes. Mothers sow love by loving unconditionally and modelling it for their children.

Mothers share forgiveness

Siblings need to learn to share and to forgive. Mothers can teach this by providing opportunities to share on the one hand, and by respecting children’s needs to have their own property on the other. Mothers encouraging their children to apologise — and to forgive –helps those children to grow in responsibility and kindness.

Mothers role modelling love and forgiveness

Above all, mothers loving and forgiving wrongs models a way of peace and mutual respect, responsibility and cooperation, that will stand our children in good stead in life.

Learning love will help society to be remodelled toward peace and harmony that seems to be slipping away.

Reshaping Society for the better

Love in this increasingly hostile and divided world is a value and way of life that is desirable… and possible. Let’s show our children how to live in love and so gain a world of peace.

Assassination Attempt

Saturday 13th July, Pennsylvania USA

Former president and current Republican candidate hopeful for the upcoming presidential election, Donald Trump faced an assassination attempt recently. Although he was only grazed, others took bullets aimed at him and one (at the time of writing) has sadly passed away.

The assassin was killed.

What does an assassination attempt against the former president signify?

The world continues its spiral into violence, destruction and death. But there is one true hope: Jesus.

It goes without saying that it is good the assassin failed. If DJ Trump had been killed the ripple effect around the nation and the world would have been profoundly unnerving. It harkens back to the attempt on President Ronald Regan’s life in 1981, and more profoundly on the killing of President Kennedy in 1963. Such events impact the entire world, such is the influence of the USA on the rest of the world.

Failed attempt on Trump’s life

I think now, if the upcoming election is fair and free, President Trump is sure to win in November. The sympathy others will have toward him and the determination he has shown following the attempt will be powerful forces too great to overcome. He will win.

What does this attempt mean to our lives

The assassination attempt on a man who is perhaps the most divisive figure in international politics will impact us all. Trump is a staunch conservative and the world is more and more polarised. Internal unrest within nations is echoed around the Western world, with left wing pitted against right wing factions and each pulling further and further apart, as though they grip an elastic rope. I personally feel the left is becoming far more extreme, but perhaps it is inevitable that the right will also.

In one sense, it doesn’t matter how far apart these two groups pull. The main point is the intensity of attack, the hatred one side holds for the other.

The only real way of calming the storm is for those who are set either with common sense values or the truth of Jesus (and there is huge overlap in the two groups) to stand firm on our convictions and hold on through the storm that is coming. Ultimately, good will triumph over evil because we who know Jesus know “the end of the story”.

Why did this happen?

A man attempted to shoot Trump. But why? We can’t know the minute details because the assassin is dead. But the climate in politics and societies in the Western world would suggest something of this nature was sure to happen, so intense and full of hatred is our world becoming.

As far as I see it, the world is battling: Sanity v Insanity. Definitions are changing and so what traditionalists call sane is being called “evil”, and evil (abortion up to birth and beyond; castration and mutilation in the name of transgender ideology are two examples) which would seem insane to all only years ago, is now considered “good” by many.

Colour of skin matters more now than at any time in history, because the Left has decided that it’s a time for spite and revenge against any white culture.

Self preservation is now considered genocide; the Prince of Peace is openly mocked as myth; good is evil and evil is good. The world has been turned upside down.

Assassinations and attempts have occurred over the centuries. But this attempt is different. The enemy has fortunately failed, but GOD is sending yet another warning: we hate at our peril.

Even Donald Trump has said, ‘Only GOD saved me’ and ‘we must unify against evil.’

What is relevant from the Bible

I’m aware I’ve not yet quoted any scripture in this piece. That’s because I don’t know what to quote….

When I think of the consequence of the hatred which has risen in American society and beyond, I think of the demons that went into the pigs who subsequently went over a cliff (Luke 8). I think that we are experiencing a sort of self destruction as we hate. Also we are on a course of self destruction when we see the shrinking of farmland and food resources in order to “be green”, destroying food production for the sake of climate control.

President Trump => Wake up Call

Whether you agree with Donald Trump, climate deniers, traditional conservative types, evangelical Christians, Neil Oliver and GB News, etc etc, their voices are growing louder over the screams and protestations of those who would have the world completely changed into their idea of Utopia. And the clash is growing more and more intense. The demons are getting stronger and the push back is also growing. The assassination attempt against President Trump and his response to “fight” against evil is just one piece of the conflict.

As far as I can tell, Trump’s survival means the LORD is at work, speaking in metaphor and nuance available to any who want to hear.

The LORD is saying a crisis is growing and there is only one answer. Donald Trump is not the answer. GOD is the answer. In allowing Trump to survive, GOD is giving opportunity for common sense and tradition to have its say. Let’s see what those voices will say. Let’s pray it’s life affirming and unifying as even Donald Trump has encouraged.

For Mothers: Election Results… and Parenting

Election results and parenting

There has just been a general election in the UK. The results have come in and we will have the same government for the foreseeable future, up to 5 years.

But: What on earth do the general election results have to do with parenting?

Running

Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. We have to pick our battles and fight for what we think is right. But sometimes we just have to accept things the way they are.

It applies to the results of an election in a democratic country. It applies to parenting as well.

So… mothering is like running in an election: we win some, we lose some, but we never give up for what we believe in. It’s just that sometimes we don’t get things the way we want them to be. And we love our family (and our nation) whether we manage to get the rest of the household on side or not, in any particular issue.

Likewise we can teach our children the same principle:

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you keep going no matter what, adapting to your circumstances as best you can and doing your best in every circumstance. This is what we model and what we teach our children.

Pick our battles

As parents, we are ultimately the leaders in the household, with the children being the followers. We want to lead well, and want to influence our children in positive ways.

Therefore we have to choose the battles we fight.

We cannot live the illusion of control by insisting on always having our way, and yet nor can we abdicate our responsibility as a parent by giving in on every issue that arises. So, we need to be wise about the issues we make issues — we need to decide what’s really important… and what is relatively unimportant, so that our children will have their freedom too, to make their own decisions.

Some things will be in our Manifesto*, other things we need to let our children determine, so they can develop confidence, decision-making skills, and explore their own ideas in order to develop their own boundaries and principles.

Stick to our guns and yet be flexible

I suggest we need to stick to our principles and yet allow flexibility in the things that really don’t matter. That way, everybody wins once in a while, and yet, the things that really matter remain under our jurisdiction for as long as the children are children.

*Manifesto: includes promises, principles and determinations we aim to achieve and do not wish to compromise on because we attach high value and importance to them

Is Perfection Possible?

Perfection

“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect” said Jesus in Matthew 5:48.

Is perfection possible? Yes, it is!

Jesus wouldn’t encourage it if it weren’t possible — or else that’d be the biggest “set-up” for failure in history!

What is perfection

Through Christ, through our faith and commitment to and salvation through Christ, we are made perfect. That is our spiritual state as we accept Him as our Lord and our Saviour.

But what about our human state: our physical, emotional, social state? If we’re honest with ourselves, if we look into the mirror, we can see our flaws, our shortcomings, how we let ourselves, others down. We are not perfect.

Paul acknowledges our shortcomings in Philippians 2:12, saying “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” He recognises his weaknesses in Romans 7:15 “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”

For all of us, our obedience is a journey just as living life is a journey. Our perfection is a process, complete in Christ but equally it is processed throughout our lives.

Surrender is the key. As we love and obey, as we surrender, we experience the fullness of joy, of peace, and ultimately, of perfection.

What perfection is not

Perfection is not ‘the perfect performance’. It is not a 100% test result. It is not an excruciating and painful self-focus to get everything right. That is building the flesh but it is not building in and through Jesus.

Perfection is not getting everything right, or beating others. It is not even defeating the enemy within.

Perfection is the act of surrendering our own needs and desires to GOD; it is living for the LORD and for others, without any need to achieve. It is perfect peace.

The Anointing

Living under GOD’s anointing is as close to perfection as I’ve so far achieved. It is rare, it is beyond myself, it is a sense of holiness within and around me… but it is not me.

There is a line from the song, In Christ Alone, which I find apt here: simply the quote is, “where strivings cease”. Amen.

For me, that is perfection. It is possible. It is desirable. It is my prayer for myself and others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

GOD’S STORY part 72 The Beginning of The Promise

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Genesis 11:31-32

“And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there. So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.”

When we are home, we are comfortable and at ease. Even if our labour is hard, it is in our homeland and so there is a certain degree of peace in the familiarity of home.

And so, when Terah leaves Ur and takes his son and his grandson, this is the beginning of new life for the men.

Canaan

We can only guess where Ur was. Many think Iraq. It will have been east of where Israel is now because the land of Canaan — where these journeymen were headed — became the land that GOD would promise to Abraham. Therefore Ur could have been what is now Iraq or Syria or even somewhere further east.

What matters more than where was Ur, is that the family of Terah settled in a new place…. and then Terah died.

How frustrating it must have been for Abram, Sarai and Lot to be in a strange place, not chosen by them but by the man who had led them there. And the final destination for Abram was not Heran.

The end of Terah’s life marked the beginning of a promise, which will unfold in later chapters of GOD’s Story.

The beginning of the promise

In order for GOD to move, often we need to be in motion.

Terah started the journey that would bring Abram to his new identity, his new life, his new relationship with GOD.

This first step is huge in Abram’s life. We don’t know why Terah left Ur. We don’t know why Abram and Lot followed. What we know is that this was the beginning of the promised covenant between the Creator of the universe and one man whom He found of great faith.

GOD’S STORY part 69 Scattering and Babbling

The Word Babble

Babble comes from to story of the tower of Babble, the tower man tried to build to reach heaven. They failed, not because it was impossible but because GOD thwarted their efforts. Why?

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

This is a post about GOD triggering mankind’s scattering and babbling.

Genesis 11:8-9

“So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.”

The LORD did not want man to succeed with their technology to create a tower to reach heaven. Mankind was intelligent, strong, capable of anything, because they were in unity.

GOD confounded their communication so they could not work together. And they dispersed.

The dispersion

Mankind could not understand one another’s speech once the LORD GOD confounded their language. Instead of working through the problem, they split up, spread out and ‘covered the earth.’

Without unity of language, mankind’s unity of effort was blocked. They gave up, went their separate ways and for thousands of years… perhaps until very recently… they remained isolated and limited.

The power of unity

“How good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity…” (Psalm 133)

It isn’t that GOD doesn’t want us unified. In fact, in the body of Christ, we are all meant to love one another and work together in unity. The hand cannot work without the foot, the eye cannot hear and needs the ear…. (1 Corinthians 12)

But the LORD wants us in unity for good works. The tower was an endeavour of pride and competition with GOD.

Let us reunite for good purposes

We have overcome language barriers and technological barriers.

Now, let the body of Christ love GOD first and then one another; let us then do the good works He wants us to do, full of compassion, joy and the Holy Spirit — leading us, guiding us to fulfil His will on earth as it is in heaven. Let us not aim to reach heaven but rather draw near to GOD so that He will draw near to us… and bring heaven down to earth.

Amen.

Preparing the Bride of Jesus Christ

Apply the Word towards Victory

This word was given to me recently from Psalm 1:3,

“He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

What a blessing it is to be given this word, which I gratefully receive as encouragement from the LORD. And I stand on this scripture for GOD’s will to be done and His word to be accomplished. (I think I shall memorise this verse, hold onto it, and remember GOD is faithful.)

Next, what shall I do with this word? How do I apply the word towards victory? Do I work hard to bring it to pass? Or do I simply walk by faith, trusting that GOD will do what He has promised?

When given a word

First, I’m incredibly grateful for this Word and I do believe it is GOD’s personal word of encouragement to me. Therefore, I accept it, I trust it, I pray into it, and I obey as the LORD leads me… in order for His will to come to pass.

I called this post Praying for Victory. But it isn’t for my victory, but for His.

A common mistake

Isn’t it wonderful to be used by GOD? Whether it is preaching the Gospel or praying for others, whether it’s writing a poem after GOD’s own heart or offering tea to a lonely person, ministry is GOD’s, not ours.

Jesus quotes from Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18)

… It isn’t me that is doing the miraculous or the kindness, but it is GOD working through me.

I might have to work at preparing GOD’s word for a congregation, or I might be the one memorising scripture so that I’m ready to be used of the LORD, but it isn’t my anointing, it isn’t my power, it isn’t me doing the blessing, but Jesus/Yeshua working through me by His Holy Sprit.

The most important thing

I believe 100% that when we realise it is Christ working in us and through us — not us — then in our total surrender, He can do anything.

But the 3 ingredients to serving for GOD and His kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven, is

  1. to surrender and
  2. to be prepared and
  3. to be available.

Praying for Breakthrough

In order to obtain victory, we need to surrender. Yes, we need to pray, but just we are servants of the Most High GOD. We are His hands and feet. When we realise that, then we can truly being to pray for the breakthrough. And the victory, GOD’s victory, will come.

Be blessed. Shalom and Love.

GOD’S STORY: Part 71 Family roots

Abraham’s family roots

We can all trace out our family trees. It’s an exercise often executed in primary school classrooms to help children build their personal identity. Family is an important part of that.

No less important has family been throughout history, and we see this in the Bible, which traces the genealogy of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

From Genesis 11:29-30

“Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. But Sarai was barren; she had no child.”

Abram (later GOD will change his name to Abraham) and Nahor were brothers, as was Haran. Tarah was their father. It is Terah who will take Abraham and his nephew Lot (fathered by Haran) out of their homeland of Ur. This is a vital step toward the LORD GOD speaking to Abraham years later and promising him the Nations as his inheritance.

“As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.” (Genesis 17:4-7)

More to this later… For now, let us focus upon the wife of Abram, Sarai (later to be named by GOD as Sarah).

Sarai is barren

Sarai was barren. This would be key to reveal the miraculous nature of GOD and the incredible faith of Abraham.

What does GOD reveal in this simple statement, “But Sarai was barren; she had no child”?

The implications of this are huge!

First, in the Jewish culture of that time like so many others, a woman’s identity was primarily based upon having a spouse and children. Sarai’s sense of worth was very much based upon her maternity — or in this case, the lack of it…

What does GOD teach us through Sarai’s story

Sarai and we are encouraged to rely upon Him, to trust in Him.

Sarai is given a new name: Sarah.

“Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.” (Genesis 17:15)

Sarah means princess. GOD regards her as a “princess”.

Sarah is given a promise: a child.

“Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”” (Genesis 18:12)

Sarah laughs at the suggestion she’ll bear a child (and then denies it).

“But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh!”” (Genesis 18:15)

Sarah’s journey

Wrapped up in “But Sarai was barren” is the huge implication that Sarai’s identity was a challenge to the norm; to society and women in particular, family and children were vital. The challenge to Abraham and to Sarah specifically would be tremendous.

Sarai without child brings

Sarai has such a huge need to give Abraham a child, she gives him her maidservant Hagar to ensure it. Ishmael is the intended consequence of a union between Hagar and Abraham, but the fallout is huge.

Isaac eventually Is born and becomes the descendant of Abraham who will be used of GOD to prepare a Chosen People.

GOD’s Chosen People

The fact that GOD makes a promise to Abraham, but then no child comes forth from Abraham’s union with his wife, seems ironic. GOD will have his hand on His Chosen People — but only through the miraculous birth to an old couple beyond child-bearing years.

GOD honours His promise through the miraculous; this makes that promise all the more powerful, all the more critical as the foundation of the Judeo-Chrstian heritage.

Family roots are important to us, important to GOD

The story of a childless couple receiving a child late in life reveals the miraculous promise of GOD being fulfilled. GOD knows the value and importance of family. So why does He make Sarai and Abram wait? He renames them both as a sign of His promise and yet they must wait. And they fail to wait.

GOD is patient and consistent

But nevertheless, GOD keeps His promise. Sarah does have a child. Abraham is the father of many nations. The family roots are established and family line of the Hebrew nation begins…

Calling v Career: You DON’T have to choose

Calling

That which the LORD has created for you, and created you for, is your Calling.

It may be a ministry, it may be a gift to develop. Are you a Bible teacher? An Evangelist with a big “E”? Are you a Prophet, Pastor or Apostle? These five gifts are people that Jesus has given to the church (Ephesians 4).

You may be made for a ministry of healings and / or miracles. Perhaps your input is based on a prophetic gift (which is not the same as being a prophet, by the way). Are you destined to be a missionary? Or an intercessor? Or an administrator (organiser) for the body of Christ?

I’m a watchman. Ezekiel and Nehemiah are the Bible characters who reference this most clearly.

Who are you in Christ, above and beyond being His child and my brother or sister?

Career

Paul was a rabbi before he had his conversion into The Way, to follow Jesus. As he ministered the Gospel, to make his living he made tents. I daresay this was not perhaps a career choice. But many will have a secular career that is just as valuable as whatever they do for the Church or for the LORD.

Career and Calling

For some, career is inextricably linked to their walk with the LORD; they work for the kingdom directly — as in the church or for a missionary organisation.

But for others, they are called to earn in the secular and contribute financially and / or in their after-hours to the Body of Believers and to the LORD. They may be lay-preachers, or street preachers; they may give large contributions to others’ direct kingdom work — and without their financial contributions this work would not happen. Or their secular skills may prove invaluable to the Body… builders, mechanics, tradesmen of all sorts contribute; lawyers, doctors, teachers… all can help towards the Kingdom directly as well as indirectly in their secular jobs.

Career and Calling together

Whether these two are fused together or run parallel, if you are doing as the LORD has led you to do, you are in His will, and that is precisely where you need to be. Praise the LORD!

“For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.

If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be?

But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honourable, on these we bestow greater honour; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honour to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

We all have a purpose to fulfil. Some of us will take some years to discover what that purpose is. We don’t have to sideline our secular to develop our calling; we don’t have to sideline our calling to grow in our day-to-day work.

Each of us is unique and especially made for a purpose. It is for us to discover it; it is for GOD to reveal it. We must ‘earnestly desire the best gifts’: pursue and discover and apply… that is our life’s journey.

And of course leading off from Chapter 12 of 1 Corinthians is Chapter 13, where we learn the ‘more excellent way’ is summed up in one word: LOVE.

We don’t have to choose

Career v Calling — we don’t have to choose. When we discover that which we were made for, it will be so satisfying and such an amazing fit that the glory flowing from the LORD will run clearly through us and we will know, “Ah, this is why I’m this way or that way.” Suddenly your personality, your character, your life, will all make sense. Certainly that was the way it was for me. Like Cinderella’s slipper, all will fit perfectly together.

So let us live, seek, enjoy, explore, hunger after GOD and enjoy who we are… as He helps us to discover who we have been made to be.

Shalom and GOD bless.

GOD’S STORY Pt 70 What’s in a Name?

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

The World Re-populated

What’s in a name? Listing genealogy gives credibility to the Bible and offers other benefits…

From Genesis 11:10-11

“This is the genealogy of Shem: Shem was one hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood. After he begot Arphaxad, Shem lived five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.” (Genesis 11:10-11)

And

“This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans.” (Genesis 11:27-28)

Sandwiched between these two pairs of verses is the genealogy of the Shemites, from Noah’s son Shem all the way to Abram who would become Abraham, and ultimately, the father of the people of Israel.

GOD’s Precision

So important is detail to the LORD GOD that He lists the ancestry of the father of the Hebrew nation from Shem, Noah’s son, all the way to Terah who begot Abram.

In the detail of chapter 11, we learn the age of the descendants, first with Shem living 500 years to see his descendants for several generations. We see also in chapter 11, from verse 10-28, that longevity declines after the flood. Such a change in the atmosphere there must have been once rain is a part of the courses of nature.

But above all else for GOD’S STORY in chapter 11 of Genesis, we see the introduction of the person whom GOD will choose to be the father of many nations, including his fatherhood of GOD’s Chosen People.

Nothing is unimportant

In GOD’s Word, nothing is unimportant. He lists births, ages and deaths. Later in the Word we’ll see feasts and building specs, with detail after detail. Why? Because as we uncover archeological sites and artefacts, we discover His Word is validated, over and over again.

He also values people, and so again and again, the Bible lists names of people and their connections to other people. Some of these details have been proven in secular historical documents. Some teach us GOD’s relationship with us, and His plan for us to be saved from eternal death.

Detail matters. And so, GOD provides it for us. Over and again, details prove the accuracy of the Word, which can in turn, build our faith and test those who challenge the veracity of the Bible.

Let’s keep reading — even the bits which may be a challenge to hold our interest — knowing that every Word points to Jesus: Yeshua the Messiah, and can lead this world back to peace, righteousness and joy.

Amen.

For Mothers: Father’s Day

Father’s Day

In the UK, the nation has just celebrated Father’s Day.

Fathers are vital to a child’s well being. Sometimes a father-figures substitutes for the biological parent and is an equal blessing! The the value of a father cannot be denied when we want the best for our children.

Western culture, certainly English-speaking Western culture, likes to highlight the value of the father of the family once a year, just as it does the mother.

Sadly, the nuclear family has been disintegrating over recent decades and so many children lack two parents, one of each sex.

Why fathers are important?

When a child is young, s/he particularly needs the mother for security. Then pre-teen, the father’s role kicks in to nurture the confidence of the child.

I realise this might be controversial for some readers, and for others — where perhaps the father figure is absent — a worry. Suffice to say, there are copious studies which have been done over decades that reiterate the value of mother and father in different ways and at different times in a child’s life. But for efficiency, I’m simply condensing this information to say: before a child reaches the teenage years, a well-established relationship with his/her dad to carry through adolescence enhances a child’s life and growth morally, intellectually, emotionally, socially.

What if there is no father?

No matter our politics, we can’t escape that it takes two to make a baby, a male and a female. (Yes, science tries and to some degree has achieved success in creating life without both parents, but don’t they still need a sperm and an egg?)

If circumstances don’t allow for a child to grow up in an environment with a father, a paternal figure, a male who will love and encourage the child, can play a vital role in building the emotional health and self esteem for a child. The knock on effect for social and intellectual security and growth will be positive and enriching. And the value to society is recognisable too.

There are male relatives, family friends, teachers and sports / club leaders all who can enrich a child’s life.

Don’t panic

We mustn’t fret if life’s circumstances haven’t provided for a father in a child’s life. But recognising the child’s need for a father is the first step in security for that child a future with its greatest richness.

Mothers are vital

I’d like to conclude this post “For Mothers” by saying, we are vital to our children’s lives. Just because we become less important to aspects of their growth in the later years of childhood doesn’t mean we aren’t important. We are! It’s just that children’s needs morph — just like their shoe size — and we need to be aware of it and ready to encourage fathers in their relationships with their children, to draw nearer when the children draw towards their teens.

Every blessing:)

Election Fever Pt 3 Judeo-Christian values

I’ve heard one national candidate in the general election say he stands for Judeo-Christian values. Bravo! So do I.

Shall we vote?

I have at least one brother in the LORD who is so fed up with politics that he says he won’t vote. I’ve disagreed with him and explained the value of our democratic vote, that we’re meant to pray for our leaders and rulers. But he and I don’t agree on this matter, though we agree on many other matters. He is faithful to Jesus regardless of his politics. Praise the LORD!

I think we should vote if we can, because society depends upon those who believe GOD, whether they agree to this reality or not.

The Word says we are to pray for our rulers that we may have a peaceful life.

The Word encourages us to engage in society, to lead people to the Truth.

The conclusion I draw from this is that, when we live in a democracy, it is our duty, calling, responsibility, to be involved, even if it is only to the degree of putting an X in a box.

The LORD brings the leaders we deserve and if we can pray and take His lead, He will hear us and may give us leaders who may bring about good laws and conduct.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

How shall we vote?

Whether it is according to our conscience, or according to a prompting directly from the LORD, we will know how to vote if we study the candidates.

Studying to show ourselves approved

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

We need to become familiar with what the candidates stand for…

We need to put all cynicism aside. Each candidate needs to be scrutinised by us, if we are to vote according to the LORD’s leading.

That’s what I think.

For some, this will be analysing the manifestos, watching videos and tv debates, and/or going to hustings.

For others, it will mean looking at the flyers that come through our doors, praying over each one to ask the LORD for guidance.

For some, it will draw us to go against the grain, as the LORD leads us in a direction we don’t understand or don’t like. For others, it will be confirmation of our initial discernment.

For many the process may not be an easy one. But it’s important.

This is a battle for our nation

At the present time, our society is in chaos: economic, moral, spiritual.

If I may, I encourage you to find the party or the candidate, or the leader whom you believe will best represent Christian values, so that our society can find its Judeo-Christian roots once again. If time is short, and I personally think it may not be long before GOD intervenes in our society on the grandest of scales, we need revival in this land. We need Jesus back in our schools and at the centre of our holidays. We need the values GOD has offered people through His Word to be returned to the United Kingdom.

I’m going to vote as one step toward this goal.

In Jesus’ name.

GOD’S STORY part 69: His mercy & compassion delay human progress

Tower of Babel, multiple languages and the scattering of mankind

GOD is full of love, compassion, patience, mercy. It is out of mercy that He disperses mankind so that their bad choices don’t cause even more destruction. His mercy & compassion delay human progress deliberately. Let’s unpack why…

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

From Genesis 11:8-9,

“So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.”

Why would GOD thwart the will of the people whom He created? Why would He give them authority over all the earth only for it to be given away to Satan?

I can’t help thinking that there are two strands going on throughout history:

Battles against GOD

One strand is a story about mankind learning the power of GOD, abusing it and then some — learning to submit to it, they are trusted to hold it.

The other strand is a story about the Creator of the universe and a jealous and spiteful creation, Lucifer, who needs to learn he is not powerful, that rather, all that he was given was gifted to him, not deserved or earned, but by the grace of GOD.

Ultimately, both stories are about man’s relationship to GOD and His relationship with us, because satan is a type of personality who is like fallen man, choosing  not to surrender to GOD.

GOD’s Salvation Story

In Genesis 11, from verse 8 we see GOD disperse man and confuses the languages as a means to protect themselves from themselves.

Hallelujah!

So how does that line up today?

First, we all have a means of salvation and have had it for 2000 years. Before that, the Jews had it and to the measure others caught on, they had an opportunity to become a part of “Israel” too.

Why did GOD prevent mankind from creating the tower to reach heaven? In “nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them”, what was GOD preventing?

Science and Technology advance

We only need to see how science & technology has advanced since maths and chemistry became “universal languages” along with English. Let’s see what mankind has “contributed” to the world since discovery and invention have exploded throughout the Industrial and Technological Revolutions.

We’ve had two world wars in the 20th century and since then: abortion on demand, euthanasia, social and political unrest to disturb our world, and the threat of nuclear war. Most recently, Artificial Intelligence threatens humanity. All of this is thanks to technology. Do you think the LORD anticipated this as He observed the Tower’s design and construction? I do.

We’ve had incredible medical advances. But that also has reduced the miracles in the same societies which have found their own cures. As we have become more self sufficient and self reliant, GOD’s presence and power have been pushed out.

Out of compassion and a consequent delay of the inevitable, GOD dispersed mankind thousands of years ago. He confused language to delay invention which would be — which has been proven to be — self destructive.

I think this tactic was an act if wisdom and profound love. What do you think?

For Mothers: Teaching how to share

Sharing

I know so little about sharing. My mother always ensured my sister (my only sibling) and I “each got one”. She meant well I’m sure. She was fair, generous, but therefore I never really learned how to share as a consequence. My mother was an only child. Perhaps she never learned to share either, so couldn’t teach us.

So how am I going to write a post For Mothers: Teaching how to share, if I don’t know how myself?

How to share

I’m going to tell you what I learned from my grandson recently. He’s three. Never underestimate the generosity or wisdom of a child…

My grandson: so keen to share

One day I was taking him back home from a visit with me. He asked for a biscuit for the car. I was a little reluctant because I’d just had the car valeted, but that was less important and so I gave him a biscuit as he got into the car. Next thing I knew, he’d broken it into pieces. One piece was for his brother and other was for him. So concerned to share, he’d not thought to ask for 2 biscuits but was willing to share from all that he had.

That’s a generous spirit!

What I learned about sharing

I must always keep in mind the child’s perspective, and assume s/he has a heart to share.

I hope this was enlightening for you as it was for me!

Every blessing and let’s remember,

“Teach a child in the way he should go and when he grows up he will not depart from it.” (King Solomon, from long, long ago)

The Bumble Bee

The bumble bee is proof of GOD’s creation. It is proof that by GOD’s design, He created the living creatures we enjoy even today…

“The scientists have ample proof —

Proof no one can deny,

That by accepted theories — well

The bumble bee can’t fly.

With fat and rounded fuselage,

With such small, fragile wings,

He cannot even leave the ground.

Bees are but crawling things!

Yet though these facts may all be true,

And proved by people wise,

The bumble bee not knowing this,

Just goes ahead and flies!”

(c) Dr Ian Tait

This little ditty came courtesy a friend of mine who’s father wrote it.

I enjoy it and share the idea that something as simple as the bumble bee reveals GOD’s creativity and creation itself.

Every blessing as you use this information, or even this poem, to spark conversation with others about Creation v Evolution.

Every blessing….

GOD’S STORY: Part 68 GOD’s Feelings

GOD’s feelings

Have you ever stopped to think how GOD feels? Does He feel?

I’d say yes. The shorted verse in the Bible reads, “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35) The verse doesn’t have to say more does it, to convey that GOD has feelings.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story.

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Genesis 11:5

“But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.”

Before looking beyond this verse, I’d like to ponder for a moment.

GOD gave man His own creativity and authority. What did man do? Adam squandered it didn’t he, in disobeying GOD and therefore giving his authority to Satan and losing his immortality.

Then Adam and Eve are sent out of the garden. And they have children, and their children have children and so on. Adam lives for several generations, watching as his children grow.

Society develops until it is so decayed, so debauched, that it has to be all but destroyed by flood waters.

Society begins again. But here we are at Genesis 11 where they plan to build a tower to get to heaven, to “make a name for ourselves” (Genesis 11:4a).

And what does GOD do?

The GOD who walked in the garden with man, who kicked him out of the garden because of his rebellion, He comes to see what man has done.

GOD still cares. He still wants relationship. He is still interested.

What does GOD think of the tower?

“And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” (Genesis 11:6-7)

He doesn’t like it!

How does GOD feel about the tower, and mankind?

GOD is our Father.

As a parent, how do you feel when your child makes a big mistake, exercises poor judgment, or goes against the best plans and purposes? It hurts, right?

So, I reckon GOD is very disappointed.

Why does man build the tower?

In Genesis 11:4 the people say, “let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

In anticipation of separation, man creates this tower. And then the very thing they fear comes to pass.

We can’t get ahead of GOD

GOD does not seek to punish us but to draw us to Himself.

We cannot pre-empt Him, cannot second guess Him. When we disappoint Him, He is grieved. When we rebel, He puts consequences in our path to teach us. When we repent and draw near, He comforts us.

The tower is built. GOD sees. GOD separates man. As He separated man from Himself at Adam’s rebellion, He separates man from each other because of their scheming.

With each step, GOD is disappointed but continues to instruct, teach, guide. If only we would turn and face Him, GOD would draw us back to Himself.

For Mothers: Protection for our children

Do not be anxious!

We need to protect our children. As part of that protection, we need to rise above fear for our children. Why? Because worry, anxiety and stress can cause strife and disagreement, disharmony and discontent. They can destroy the peace and harmony of the home. We must try to avoid it… in order to protect our children, even from ourselves.

I’m guilty

Sometimes I worry for my son. He’s an able, healthy, decent human being. And yet, I worry anyway.

This gets in the way of fun and it gets in the way of his freedom and his learning curve. If I worry, I distract him. Or I persuade him, rather than leave him to his own judgment.

He won’t learn unless I leave him alone.

Young ones

Of course whether our children are young, or old, we seek to protect them. But the level of protection is relative to their age and capability. And so, the little ones need much more of our direct protection for their physical and emotional well being, than do the older ones.

Love them

Let’s not hound our children, or fret about their decisions. Let’s lead and guide them so that they will learn and grow as they need to. Let’s set boundaries that will protect them on the one hand, and release them to grow on the other. Balance, age appropriate freedoms and boundaries, will help our children to feel loved, nurtured, safe… and free.

Bless them with respect

When we endorse our children’s good decisions and choices, we build them up. When we throw cold water on their ambitions and endeavours, we demoralise them.

Let’s look forward to the future with hope and positive expectation. And let’s show our children we have faith in them. Let us give them safe guidelines and trust in their best, protecting them from harm but allowing them to make their own achievements and even their own mistakes.

That’s what I’m saying to myself as much as to anyone else.

Election Fever part 2: Detachment

Detach from the Frey

Have you been watching the news? Are you reading the news about the upcoming general election (UK readers)? That’s important, isn’t it? We — I believe very strongly — need to exercise our responsibility to vote. And an informed decision with prayer, is the best possible decision we can make.

Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”

Since we are subject to the rules and regulations, I believe we need to do our best to ensure those who will seek righteousness are elected.

But…This post isn’t about how to make a decision whether to or how to vote. Rather, this is about maintaining GOD’s peace within us. So, whilst I do believe we need to investigate, be aware of what’s going on, we also need to be aware of the motives of those feeding us the information we are searching for. Therefore, I have a proposal.

Let’s everyone take a step back… Do you know the media’s main aim is to keep us engaged and their main strategy is to keep us excited?

Media

The main stream media, and even the You Tubers and Podcast providers, design their information to keep us engaged. How do they do that? Mostly, I observe and experience that their main strategy is to implant fear and to cause panic, excitement, high-intensity emotion such as anger, hostility, vulnerability… Not life-giving emotion but death-triggering emotion.

Detachment

So, I believe — and certainly I’m speaking to myself here — we need to disengage. We need to step back and observe, analyse, pray. We need to keep the information at arms length, so as not to get ourselves caught up, losing our peace, and our perspective as people of the sovereign and most high GOD.

How to detach?

We recognise the facts, and also that much of what is presented onto the airwaves and into print is hype, speculation and suggestion, perhaps mixed with fact but manoeuvred to engage us by inthralling us, frightening us, and getting us to look at to the journalists for truth and even (sometimes) for solutions.

Instead, we need to keep our heads on our shoulders, keep our feet on the ground and above all, keep our eyes on Jesus remembering the LORD is sovereign.

Mayhem

2024 is an election year for over 20 nations. South Africa has just had the result of theirs yesterday (at the time of writing this post). The UK will have theirs on 4th of July and the US on 4th of November.

Several nations appear to be imploding upon themselves. In SA the ruling party for the last 30 years has not won the majority this time… making for a huge change! And in the US the ruling party in opposition to the most popular candidate for the presidency has just criminalised him. In Spain, the current government says, ‘We support a Palestinian State’; meanwhile, the opposition says to Israel, ‘don’t worry as soon as we’re in government, we’ll cancel that decision.’

There is much strife.

Fever reduction

And so, let us be the witness for calm. Let us be the ones to avoid gossip and speculation. Let we who know Jesus as our King and Prince of Peace be calm in the storm. Then, others may calm down too. This is certainly what we hope and pray.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For Mothers: Enjoy

Good morning.

The day is sunny. Let’s enjoy it!

The time is measured. Let’s use it wisely.

The days are short. Let’s fill them with pleasant memories.

The earth is full. Let’s contribute kindly.

The universe is stirring. Let’s take a look at all we have and be grateful.

My message this morning is simple:

We have one life to live. One life to give to our children. One life to share with others. One life to discover.

Let’s teach our children to look at life this way:

“We have one live so let’s make the best of it, taking the ups and downs as they come and learning to enjoy what and who we can, especially one another.”

Enjoy!

Election Fever

An election has been called in the UK. This is a time of uncertainty, unpredictability, and we who know Jesus must take this time to our hearts and minds: Let’s pray for the nation and hold on….

Election Fever has struck

On Wednesday 22nd May, unexpectedly by all but only a handful of people, the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of United Kingdom called a general election. As with all nations that use the parliamentary system, there is not a set election date as in the USA but the structure calls for an election every 5 years (if not before). Since the last election was in 2019, it was a known fact that the election would be held before the end of December 2024.

This call was sudden and generally unexpected.

The immediate results are:

  1. A scramble by the press to get the stories
  2. A scramble by MPs to get their campaigns up and running
  3. A scramble by political parties to fill their constituencies with viable candidates
  4. Just generally, a lot of scrambling.

So let’s pray for calm.

What else can we do

I believe the most important thing we can do as Believers in Jesus is to become informed and then vote.

Since we live in a democracy, however sincere or controlled that democracy may be, we need to exercise our vote as citizens of the nation. But to vote, we need to be informed and pray.

Speculation verses opinion verses fact: We need to discern. What is news hype? What is true? What are the issues we are most concerned about? Who addresses those issues best or most in the way we do? ‘Whom does GOD say I should vote for’ (If he says anything directly to us about it)?

Turbulence (flight London to Singapore was prophetic)

Our society is under great strain at the moment.

I think even the heavens creating turbulence is a part of that. Recently, there have been 2 incidents reported about flight turbulence causing injury and 1 death. I think the flight from London to Singapore was a prophetic warning, highlighting the turbulence in our times.

Research and Vote

I believe the establishment is corrupted. But not all politicians are corrupted. And just as the established church has strengths and weaknesses — some believing we need to steer it from within and others thinking we need to avoid it — we need to take our opportunity to vote and take it seriously. Even the “Monster Raving Loony Party” is valuable in that it gives those who are very cross an opportunity to vote.

So, I encourage us all to pray, to be as positive aka as hopeful as we can be, research and vote.

Let’s not get swept up in excitement or panic, nor get so angry we choose to throw in the towel. But let us dig in for the next 6 weeks and pray.

Let’s pray for the nation to be a sheep nation and not a goat nation. Let’s pray for the earnest politicians to win. Let’s pray for the victors to care, truly about this nation, and to make good laws, not self-serving, and let’s pray this nation is a nation turned to GOD.

We who are in Christ, let’s love one another, discuss and discern together.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

GOD’S STORY: part 67 Communication and Human Endevour

Let’s look at language and international communication

Genesis 11:1-4 is as follows: “Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.””

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Communication and Human endeavour

Mankind, made in GOD’s own image, is creative and really quite brilliant. So, when mankind in Shinar was unified, had an idea and could communicate it, they began to build a tower to reach to heaven.

Why did GOD object to the tower?

What was the result of man’s attempt to reach heaven? God confused their communication. This is the beginning of different languages, a splitting up into various cultures and lands over the earth. But why did GOD object to the ingenuity of mankind?

Global communication and the result

Now that we have English as a “global” language, and maths and science which have universal understanding, look where technology has taken us?

We are more connected than ever before. And we have more aggression, rebellion and planned protest than ever before.

Yes, there is much mankind can do when they are united. Fortunately, some of this “doing” is helpful and constructive. Sadly, much is violent and has brought us into turbulent times.

Yes, mankind can achieve just about anything… But that is not necessarily a good thing.
