Are all of our thoughts are own, and fostered by the Holy Spirit?
Is the enemy getting into our thoughts? Or revealing himself to us? Is it getting harder to pray?
A time to pray
I am finding it hard to pray today, even though I aim that my thoughts are His thoughts, and my ways are His ways.
Scripture says, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:” (2 Timothy 3:1)
Then as Paul writes to the young man Timothy, he lists many of the perils that will come at the believer.
We need to “guard our hearts and minds” and “meditate on these things” which are good, virtuous, pure.… (Philippians 4:7-8) even though I am sensing the enemy is exposing his evil by attempting to attack my thoughts with his evil.
And perhaps this is what leads me to write…
Keep your mind on that which is good
Have you noticed an increase in negativity or nasty thoughts which you know are not your own, invading your “head space”? I have!
I’ve had anti-semitic thoughts, I’ve had hateful thoughts toward neighbours, I’ve had images injected into my thought pattern, which bear no likeness to my own thinking. Why?
The LORD is revealing the enemy to me
Demonic spiritual activity is on the rise. If you don’t believe me, look at the increase in violence on our streets. Children are being knifed around the UK by random attackers.
Wars are on the rise.
Hatred, racism (the stuff where white people are hated simply for being white, even by some elected politicians), which are being expressed through vandalism and looting.
Abortion — even until birth — is legal in some places and other government officials are pushing it in other places.
Euthanasia, assisted suicide is become legal in nations and people are being advised to commit suicide in cases where there seems to be “no hope” for a change in their circumstances.
And so our minds are infected… or if ours are not, certainly others’ are.
I believe the LORD has been revealing to me the sorts of fears and thoughts that are plaguing other people.
What do I do with this?
So what does a person who longs to pray do with all these horrific images or thoughts? How do we pray into the horrible circumstances that are arising on our streets and in our societies today?
How do we pray?
“My thoughts…”
We call on Christ, the best of all prayer warriors.
We plead with Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
We remember that GOD has forewarned us of the horrendous last days, “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.” (2 Timothy 3:2-5)
And we know, ““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:8) and we trust Him to lead usl in our prayers.
Yes, I think it is getting harder to pray. But it’s all the more important to do so, for the world is imploding upon itself.
Prayer is the key to victorious overcoming
As He has said, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
And so we must give time and space to GOD. We are His handiwork, His voices, we are the power and authority of GOD on this earth.
Whether it is getting harder or not, we must pray. And the harder it gets, the more we must engage, to pray upon this earth, God’s will be done in earth as it is in heave, and pray that the LORD will set the captives free.

One reply on “Is it getting harder to Pray?”
It’s getting harder even to live in the world never mind praying. Demonic activity is at fever pitch. Easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged. Nevertheless, I am realising the power of God’s word and the reality of indwelling Holy Spirit in a way that I haven’t before. Be encouraged. Our great God still reigns supreme.
