Happiness: a song without a tune

I had a dream that I was happy

I had a dream that I was happy

It came as such a surprise!

I’d slipped away and suddenly

There it was again.

Love had come in romantic form

Another surprise to me

I don’t expect it to be real

But it was pleasant to imagine.

Joy is fleeting

Though everlasting

Smiles through a window

With no pane

I have a feeling

Life is beginning

Sadness leaving

Time not in vain.

I had a dream that I was free

I laughed and held someone so dear

Not in this life will it come

But in sleep, surprises to appear.

Joy is fleeing

Though everlasting

Smiles through a window

With no pane

I have a feeling

Life is beginning

Sadness leaving

Time not in vain.
