GOD’s Warning System

How many times have we sensed a warning and didn’t heed it, only to (eventually) realise our mistake.

GOD offers us a warning system

GOD’s Warning System: His Word and the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the way to go.

Sometimes through the Word we will be shown the way forward, and that will prevent us from making a mistake in judgement.

GOD warns us through the Word:

  1. Mark 14:30, 66-72 — a look at Peter and his very human failing and foibles, we see how GOD warned him even as he lied about not knowing Jesus on the night after his betrayal. The cock crowed once, then Peter lied, denying Jesus 3x. Then the cock crowed again, and only then did Peter realise Jesus’ prophecy was fulfilled. If he’d listened to the first time the cock crowed, perhaps he’d not have made the mistake.

How many times have we sensed a warning and didn’t heed it, only to (eventually) realise our mistake.

When we know the Word, and walk in it, we are less likely to go astray, into our own will that sometimes ignores common sense, or relies too heavily on it.

Vere neither to the left or the right. (Joshua 1:7) Then we walk in the protection of the laws and ways of the LORD. For the laws aren’t simply about “what to do” and “what not to do” but are based upon the principles of GOD and how He created the world and the people in it to live. Outside of that, we go against our humanity as a creation of the most high GOD.

GOD Warns us through His Holy Spirit promptings:

A personal witness of Holy Spirit —

Story of the Tennessee Williams’ script book

When I was a young Christian, as I was moving from Canada to the UK, I packed up a small shipping trunk for a slow, cheaper delivery than by air.

I was packing and thought to take a particular book as I was going to train as an actress. I had a lot of books pertaining to acting, and a lot of play scripts. Of several I was going to take, there was only one I hesitated to pack and considered taking it on the plane… I did pack it in the end. But later, when I flew to London, I realised I really needed that particular text. Alas it was in transit and so I missed the opportunity to use it — on short notice — to present a monologue. Consequently, I gave an inferior first impression using a piece that really didn’t suit me, and that first impression was never really overcome. Pity I didn’t listen to His prompting. But I didn’t recognise it was GOD…. until it was too late.

Since then, I’ve been baptised in the Holy Spirit and have studied the Word much more comprehensively. So, I walk in the Spirit of life and ask, listen for GOD’s leadings and promptings.

Recently, I was asked how I know GOD is speaking to me. It’s a learning process, including study, trial-and-error, and practice.

When I began to hear GOD, I responded accordingly. When the result was borne out as He said it would be, then I knew I’d heard from Him. If it didn’t, then I realised I hadn’t heard from Him… it had been my own thought, or wishful thinking or a distraction, or the enemy misleading me. Over time and practice, I learned to recognise GOD’s voice over any other. Just like a child would learn to recognise a parent’s voice, so we learn how to recognise GOD’s voice within us (or very occasionally audibly), when we choose to pay close attention.

So, GOD gives us warnings: foreboding, words to live by, an inner sense of which way to go. We only need listen: to develop our spiritual ears, eyes and ‘gut’ (where most of my promptings seem to originate); we can be forewarned and forearmed against mistakes and unnecessary — inferior judgments.

    Every blessing,

    Sarah

Yes. Thanks Sarah. I very much like your analogy to a child heeding the voice of his/her parent(s.)
God the Father is the ULTIMATE Parent, yet His “Still small Voice” can be SO easily missed, as you rightly infer, in the midst of countless “louder,” more insistent “voices,” clamouring for our attention (even in our early morning quiet times.)

As you also rightly say, hearing from God is a learning process, in fact i believe a LIFELONG “Learning curve.”

No wonder the enemy-of-our-souls NEVER quits trying to catch our attention, in order to deceive us, and/or tempt us, with the aim of weakening our Faith, plus eventually, leading us OFF the “Straight and Narrow Way” that leads to “Everlasting Life,” back onto the “Broad Highway” that “Leads to destruction!”

As St. Paul warns, with respect to the “Perilous Times” we now live in, “Your enemy the devil goes around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Fortunately, we have the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, within us, and when HE roars, then the one who goes around LIKE a roaring lion has no option but to “FLEE!”

As it is written:- “Christ within you is greater by far, than he that is in the World” (the so-called “god of this world,” with a little “g!”)

    Shalom/God bless+++
