GOD’S STORY: part 85 Our exceedingly great reward

There is no room for anxiety or fear when we live in the knowledge of our full inheritance from Abraham.

GOD loves us. He promises us protection, blessing and reward when we have faith, obey and follow Him. He is our “exceedingly great reward”.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

In Genesis 15:1 it reads, “After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.””

What does this mean for Abram?

GOD has promised Abram his protection and reward. The Creator of the universe, the most high God, has promised a man His personal shield of protection with no explanation, detail or limitation. He has also promised a blessing of an exceedingly great reward.

What does this mean for us?

Jewish people, as descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, have already inherited this shield and this reward. We who are adopted by GOD through faith in Jesus the Messiah, also receive the same shield of protection and incredible reward.

Hebrews 11:8 reads, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going”.

And in Galatians 3:8 we see, “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.””

And so, GOD has promised and we need to live according to His promise: living as though we are protected and blessed.

Jesus teaches about fear and worry

Repeatedly, Jesus says “do not worry” in His sermon on the mount.

Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Jesus told us not worry. And here in Genesis 15:1 we see the root as to why not! Abram’s story shares with us what we’ve inherited and is just another way of seeing how we’ve no reason to be anxious, not to fear, nor to worry.

There is no room for anxiety or fear when we live in the knowledge of our full inheritance from Abraham.
