GOD’S STORY: part 84 Tithing

Tithing does not depend on income. It does not depend on what others are doing. And it is not limited to 10%.

Abram gave the first tithe

There is an expression amongst Christians, “You can’t outgive GOD” which alludes to the fact that that no matter how much you want to give to GOD, He will always out-give to you!

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Genesis 14:18-24

“Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said:

“Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;

And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”

And he gave him a tithe of all.

Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.”

But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’— except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.”

What is a tithe?

To tithe is to give 10% of your income. The top or first 10%. There is no law to do so, but rather, Abram gave it to GOD out of gratitude, thanksgiving, praise — for GOD delivered his nephew and his people from the warmongers. Although Abram rallied his troupes to rescue Lot, he knew it was GOD who deserved the thanksgiving for the victory against the invaders.

Do we have to tithe?

Whether we tithe or not will depend on our church structure or rules, it will depend on our own conscience, it will depend on us.

Tithing is a gift to the giver, who has given us everything, for as born again believers, He’s given us life itself.

GOD gives in His abundance. The widow gave her 2 mites which was everything she had, and Jesus praised her in the giving.

Tithing does not depend on income. It does not depend on what others are doing. And it is not limited to 10%.

In love and gratitude, Abram gave to GOD. How can we do less?
