GOD’S STORY: part 81 The Promise from GOD

We can stall or miss GOD’s will when we miss His instruction or downright disobey.

Jesus was Jewish

Jesus the Messiah, the Saviour of the world, descended from Abraham, the father of the Hebrew nation. The Promise of GOD Himself was to Abram. That promise included land, family and a commitment / covenant without condition. It is from this Father of the nation of Israel that Jesus descended.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Genesis 13:12-17

“Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

The promise from GOD

At last, Abram arrives in the land the LORD has for him. He’s without Lot, on his own as he was meant to be from the start:

“Now the Lord had said to Abram:“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.”” (Genesis 12:1)

And he is promised — without condition and forever — the land of Canaan.

The LORD encourages Abram

GOD has been patient and faithful. He found in Abram faith and relationship. And He honoured that by choosing him to make a great nation through him. Hallelujah!

Lot

As for Lot, he chose the city, ending up in Sodom, the exceedingly wicked city. More of his story later.

The key

Will look more at Lot later, but we see already that his perspective is not in line with Abram’s. They split and that allowed the LORD to move in Abram’s life profoundly.

We can stall or miss GOD’s will when we miss His instruction or we downright disobey. Recently, He asked me to do something which was difficult. But not doing it, I’ve learned from experience, is tragic. I chose to obey.

And so, let us seek GOD’s will, let us obey His command, and let us trust to receive all the LORD GOD has for us, be it riches, responsibility, or relationship.
