Giving Thanks
The LORD has asked us to worship and to praise Him. He’s taught us to give Him the glory when good things come to pass in our lives. We need to put our focus on the LORD in this battle between GOD and Satan. We don’t know all the whys and wherefores, but we do need to live a life style of giving thanks to GOD.
One of repeated examples to this reads thus, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story
How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.
Genesis 13: 3-4
“And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord.”
When Abram ‘called on the name of the Lord’ I believe he was giving thanks. He was calling on GOD to say, “thank you for your lead”, “thank you for walking with me”, “thank you for your protection”.
Abram travelled for miles, over years. His most recent movement completed a circle and brought him back to where he’d built his alter to the LORD. And there, he called upon GOD again.
Faithfulness
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8)
I don’t know if he had doubts at any time. We know from repeated scriptures that Abraham is praised for his faith. But for now, for this moment, the man called on his GOD, acknowledging Him — and, I believe, praising Him.
If Abram wandered through the desert, went in circles, and wound up praising GOD, that is good enough for me to follow!
