GOD’S STORY: part 154 Wrestling with GOD

We don’t need to develop a limp for the blessing. Rather, as we yield and say, “Your will not mine, LORD” the blessings we receive will be the desires of our hearts and will lift us as though we are walking on air.

Wrestling with GOD

When we wrestle with GOD, it is sure to yield a blessing because He is a generous Father… but there is a cost too.

Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story

How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.

Genesis 32:30-32

“So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip. Therefore to this day the children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the socket of Jacob’s hip in the muscle that shrank.”

Jacob limped for the rest of his life. I doubt it bothered him, because he recognised his blessing and he lived to tell the story!

There is a cost to success

Nothing of value is free. There is always a cost. We give our lives to Jesus freely, and yet, the cost to Him was so great in order for us to have life eternal with Him.

Likewise, when we reach out for the blessing the LORD has for us, there is an exchange. We may discover the blessing is up a steep mountain of self discovery, or down in a deep, deep valley of life under challenge. We may be met with family who envies us, or a community that disdains us for having success and freedom that life with Jesus brings — available to any and all.

Envy

Envy may surge as you are blessed. And it may spring from places or people you’d never expect. But the LORD knows the heart. And His blessing will reveal who are your real friends and family.

Don’t limp

We don’t need to develop a limp for the blessing. Rather, as we yield and say, “Your will not mine, LORD” the blessings we receive will be the desires of our hearts and will lift us as though we are walking on air.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)
