For Mothers: the power of eye contact

Never underestimate the value of eye contact.

Never underestimate the value of eye contact.

When we eye ball people, it’s easier to connect. It’s easier to gauge the mood of the other person, whether there is transparency, whether or not the other person needs help.

When we look someone square in the eye, they are more likely to speak honestly, more openly.

When we look another person in the eye, it might feel awkward, or invasive, or accusatory. But when we do, we reveal ourselves to them and so, perhaps, they will open up to us as well.

Looking your child in the eye shows them you’re listening, shows them you care, shows them your interested, involved in what they have to say.

When you look into the eyes of your son or daughter, you see into his/her heart. And you show yours too…..

The value of that is incalculable.

“The eyes are the windows to the soul.” (William Shakespeare)
