Children watch. They learn from watching. The best way we can teach our children is to model the behaviour we want them to exhibit and live with the attitude we want them to inhabit.
What are you teaching your child about: Love, Joy, Peace (of mind), Goodness to others, Kindness towards others, Gentleness, Faithfulness to family, whatever your perception of GOD is, your nation, yourself, Patience, Self-Control? Words matter. But behaviour matters more!
If I want love, I need to be more loving. If I want others to be patient with me, I need to be more patient with others…. You get the idea?
We can preach and we can teach — and sometimes we need to use words to convey what is important.
But the clearest message we give to our children is through our own behaviour.
