I write for mothers, as I am a mother. We need to learn more about looking after one another.
There are mothers who are full of love
Recently, a mother on Facebook reprimanded someone who saw her with her 3 young children in a grocery store, and he commented to her about her “hands being full!”
Well, on Facebook she took a strip off him for insinuating she was somehow being hard done by for having these children to look after.
She was blunt, yet poetic as she wrote of her joy and fulfilment at being mother to these children.
There are mothers full of woe
I’ve only borne one child. And the pregnancy and delivery were a joy for me. And afterward too, there were no complications and he was not a difficult baby.
But I’ve known others who have had a hard time. Some have experienced postpartum depression. How sad. And yet, it can be the making of someone. Distress or hardship can make us grow.
I don’t wish pain on anyone. But if we look after one another, we can make each other’s difficulty a little — or even a lot easier. For when we “carry one another’s burdens” the load is lighter for everyone.
There are wealthy mothers and poor ones
Some of us have much; some of us have little. But all of us can learn to share and give what we have… What we have to offer may be material, but far more often what we need from others — or what we have to offer — is wisdom, experience, a helping hand, or simply our company.
Giving to each other brings our children together. It brings us together. It can lighten the load and bring us joy.
Let’s share
When we share, we both end up with far more.
So let’s begin, more and more, to look out for one another.
