Listening opportunities
Lately, I’ve had person after person wanting to talk to me — to really talk to me. I’ve made time. I think that was wisdom. And out of giving, I received so much more. I was really blessed.
Listen, Listen, Listen
I reckon this opportunity to listen is a gift to me, even more than it might be to the other person. Because in the listening, I’ve heard, I’ve been brought closer to each of these people, and I’ve discovered each of them had insight which was valuable to us both.
I made time for others, and I ended up receiving much more than I could ever give away.
The most important over-arching insight I discovered was that I was being prepared to listen to my own child in a new way.
Listening to my child
When my own child approached me, I was ready to listen rather to than advise. I was ready to hear rather than to speak my mind. I was able to hear rather than to offer my ideas.
I was hugely blessed to be able to listen. It’s a huge skill. I’m still learning. And I’m so grateful!
