New Beginnings in a New Year = forgive others, forgive yourself, be the best parent you can be!
For Mothers for a New Year
There’s no point regretting or talking down yourself. I say this to me too, given I’m at times brutally aware of my shortcomings as a mum.
One shortcoming I have is clumsiness. Last week I sent out an old post instead of the Christmas one. And it went out 2 days late. Not sure what happened but I’m sending the Christmas one that I intended to send, along with this New Year post, in this week’s newsletter.
Another shortcoming I have is jumping the gun! I sometimes react before thinking, or speak before realising I should be silent… the “counting to 10” strategy goes out the window, sometimes. I deeply regret being this way, because when I am, it conveys a lack of trust or respect toward my son, whom I greatly trust and respect.
A third shortcoming I have as a parent, is thinking of myself. I really would like to be focused on the other person, rather than on myself. But sometimes, I get sad or fearful, and behave in a form of panic rather than calm. I don’t like that.
But no New Year’s resolution
I am not perfect. My child is not perfect. No one is perfect.
All any of us can be is “the best we can be”.
That isn’t a new year resolution, but it is a lifestyle. It’s the one I live and hope to continue to live.
I wish you a fantastic turn into 2025. God bless and love to you and yours.
Sarah
