Finding our Ministry

I’m going to say something which may be rather controversial…

I’m going to say something which may be rather controversial: Finding our ministry is not particularly important.

Finding our Ministry

I haven’t a clue what my ministry entails. I don’t know what I’m meant to be planning, if I’m meant to be planning anything. I don’t know what I’m meant to be building, if I’m meant to be building anything. What I do know is that I’m a Watchman, that I have been designed for that role; once I had figured out who I am in Christ, the rest just sort of moved forward on its own.

I had to learn who I am: What I’m called to do and to be. That took effort, deliberate focus, and a willingness to be available to GOD.

I had to learn to be sensitive to others, so that what I saw in the Spirit didn’t simply get blurted out to the wrong audience, but was delivered in a timely and compassionate fashion.

I had to learn to recognise the ideal time to deliver a warning, encouragement or message.

I had to develop patience and grace… and of course I’m still growing, still learning.

Finding our place

When we know who and what we are in Jesus, and when we make ourselves available to the LORD, He will use us. We mustn’t be complacent, but we don’t need to scramble to find something to do. Rather, we need to develop an understanding of the GOD things (verses the good things) to put our hands to.

We know that without a vision the people perish. But our vision is to know GOD and to make Him known. My church has this streamline: “To make Jesus known to everyone, everywhere.” I like that.

Basically, all of us together have one central mission

The Great Commission of Matthew 28 is for all of us, and we each will fit in depending upon our personality and where we are in our level of surrender, maturity, confidence.

But all of us have been commissioned to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations… That’s it, basically. How we do that is “our ministry” and how that unfolds will depend on our relationship with the Father and our readiness to surrender all to Him.

We need to be ready. We need to be willing. We are already able as He’s gifted us. Now, as we allow Him to use the gifts He’s given to us, are we prepared to go on the most exciting ride of our lives?!
