Antisemitism

Let’s open our eyes to see from GOD’s perspective, that He has never abandoned His people the Jews.

It’s time to knock antisemitism on the head… There is no excuse for it and societies around the globe need to recognise it for what it is: an unjustified hatred for a group of people called Jews. It’s nearly as old as Christianity and it stems from the group of people who claim to love GOD and Jesus, His son. I say “claim” because scripture says, ‘He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:8)

Those who claim to love GOD but do not get on with their brothers in the Faith, or with their older brother the Jews, are not telling the truth.

Why address anti-semitism

How can I address anti-semitism in a brief post? Well, we live in a society that is loaded with self-righteousness and in this world we’re meant to be inclusive. But the Jews are the most excluded group of people in history… I won’t bother to explain or prove it here. It’s blatantly obvious to any who look at history.

Why hate Jews

They put a curse on themselves — it’s their own fault

They killed Jesus

GOD has replaced the Jews with the Christians

Jealousy for their survival

Jealousy for their divine mandate

A form of racism deployed by Satan himself

Justification because they are all: money-hungry, greedy people, out to set a mandate over civilisation which will put them in the place of ultimate control over everyone else on the planet; they kill babies for their blood sacrifices…

…. and all the other mad excuses used over the centuries.

Why none of these things are valid in this day-and-age (and never were, in any age, actually)

We preach acceptance and freedom of speech. We advocate for the rights of everyone. So why not the Jews?

They kill people in Gaza. Really? The New York Jews kill people in Gaza? Gaza is a reason to hate all Jews? What about the atrocities committed by the Gazans? What about the atrocities committed by the Russians on the Ukrainians? What about the atrocities committed by the Americans in Afghanistan? In Viet Nam?

Unfortunately, atrocities are a part of war. But the Jews have done more to minimise fatalities in Gaza than any other nation in the history of war. They leaflet to ask people to move because they are coming in to find the enemy, sacrificing the element of surprise. Who except the Jews do that in war?

But never mind the facts… With anti-semitism, any hatred of the Jews is justified by definition.

What about the Jews against this war?

What about the fact that Palestine didn’t exist as a nation ever, and the only people who called themselves Palestinians before 1948 were the Jews living there.

The Arabs, in the days of the British Mandate, called themselves, well, Arabs.

But that’s just history. And history is broken…

Jesus was Jewish and IS Jewish

Another reason for the Church to recognise the Jews as allies is Jesus himself.

Jesus built the ministry with His disciples, every one of whom was a Jew. The first 12 were Jews. Those who followed before, and even after, His crucifixion were Jewish. Jesus initially refused to heal Gentiles saying He came specifically for the lost sheep of Israel. (Matthew 15)

Yes, the Jewish pharisees and religious leaders despised Him. Paul, who became the writer of the largest portion of the New Testament was originally a Jewish pharisee, before becoming one of Jesus’ followers. But just as it was Jewish people who pushed the Romans to execute Jesus, so too was it Jewish people who started the Church.

The leaders of the established Church despised the Jew… Martin Luther wrote scathing antisemitic works when he was unable to convert them to Christianity, to site just one example.

But Jesus will always be Jewish and we reject the Jews to His dismay. He started His ministry with Jews and it was the Jews who carried on The Way that He started, until the Roman Constantine began to shift Christianity, originally an off-shoot of Judaism, away from its Jewish roots….

Conclusion

I could say much more, but really it all boils down to this: If you do not recognise the world is in large measure, antisemitic, keep looking. Begin by looking within, to ensure you are not against GOD’s chosen.

Let’s open our eyes to see from GOD’s perspective, that He has never abandoned His people the Jews (how else could they have survived extermination attempts throughout History, to be a thriving culture and people group even today?), nor will He.

“I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31, Joshua 1, 1 Chronicles 28, Hebrews 13)

We stand for Jewish people. If not, we are running in opposition to GOD.  The practice of antisemitism is old and a part of Satan’s strategy. Let’s bring him down, and not the GOD of all Creation!
