God Reiterates His Promise
GOD has just promised Abram is exceedingly great reward. It isn’t so much that Abram doesn’t believe Him but that he can’t see the most important thing to him actually happening. If Abram has no children, what possible exceedingly great reward can there be…?
Preparing the Bride for GOD’s Story
How do we prepare as the Bride of Christ? One aspect is to learn GOD’S STORY. He created us in His image…. Piece by piece, and peace by peace, we learn to walk as He has walked. And we learn His perspective.
Genesis 15:2-7
“But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be. And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.””
Abram has a conversation
God has promised that Abram will have a huge family. Now He promises an “exceedingly great reward” in verse 1 of Genesis 15. What is Abram’s response? He talks to GOD.
Abram doesn’t say he doesn’t believe GOD. He doesn’t ignore or doubt GOD. Instead, he asks GOD, talks to Him. “I go childless…” “You have given me no offspring…”
And as the conversation unfolds, how does GOD respond? He answers and says, “”So shall your descendants be…”
And Abram ‘believed in the LORD”
And GOD accounted Abram’s response as righteous.
Have a conversation
GOD gives us promises in His Word. You may doubt. You may question. GOD wants a conversation.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart… In all ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
GOD doesn’t mind you asking. He wants to relate, discuss, engage. He wants you to trust Him. But it doesn’t mean you don’t ask when you can’t see the way forward. He just wants you to engage.
And He sees your question and your response to Him, as you place your trust in Him, as righteous.
