Prayer: Our Source of Power and Authority

LET US NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYER

We have a power and authority we do not fully recognise: Prayer

We must learn to meditate much more, to pray in authority: not my will but thine; what is Your will?

Isaiah 11:9b states

“For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD

As the waters cover the sea.”

And Psalm 29:1-2 says

“Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones,

Give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name;
Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”

And Psalm 29 repeatedly mentions the power of “the voice of the LORD” which, when we pray, we activate.

We have authority given by GOD to move mountains

We need the knowledge of the LORD and the willingness for His will. Then the earth and everything in it will bow down.

This is NOT a prosperity Gospel, because GOD does not seek our prosperity for ourselves.

This is NOT a name it and claim it Gospel, because that presumes the knowledge of the LORD is for us.

This is a Gospel of Love, Hope, Victory and Blessing. The LORD seeks to bless and we are to be available to hear His desire and His blessing and then to proclaim it.

In Isaiah 11, the prophet speaks of the coming Messiah, and the peace that he will bring.

In Psalm 29, the psalmist writes of worship from us, and that we give to Him all the glory due to Him. When we do this, great things occur.

We have a powerful weapon against all unrighteousness in the world

That weapon is Prayer.

We have a powerful tool to procure God’s will be done on Earth as in Heaven. That weapon is Prayer.

We have all that is necessary to change this world from darkness to light. That weapon is Prayer.

For the weapon of our warfare is the armour of GOD; not tools in which to fight, but armour to protect us against the battle.

How to Pray

“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:11-12)

Let us learn to pray, to make a difference in this world. Let us pray to bring Heaven to Earth. Let us pray as Jesus prayed, to that GOD’s will IS DONE on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Hallelujah and Amen.

Heya Sarah, I think we all need reminding of the power of prayer as believers in God and of Jesus Christ our Lord. Thank you for your article on this subject.

It would be great if you could expand some more about putting on the whole armour of God and what that entails.

God bless,

Rose

Hi Rose,

The armour of GOD as written in Ephesians Chapter 6:10-20 outlines what we are to do to protect ourselves especially when we pray. I quote it here and then will unpack it below….
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
FIRST, We equip ourselves with GOD’s armour to withstand any attack from Satan, because it is not people we are fighting against but in spiritual warfare it is the Enemy and his minions: powers and even greater, principalities that we must face when we pray, dark spiritual rulers of physical and spiritual territories on earth and in heavenly places (there is more than one level of heaven… the heavens nearest our atmosphere is near space; then there is the arena where demons inhabit and spiritual battles occur: angels against demons; finally is heaven where the Father and Son inhabit and angels bow down and worship.
No one goes into battle without the correct armour. Daniel faced Goliath, not with the weight and density of man’s armour but with faith and his slingshot and stones.
The armour GOD provides includes:
1. Waist: belt of Truth
2. Chest/Torso: breastplate of Righteousness with GOD (when we are saved by Jesus, we have righteousness with the Father)
3. Feet: shod with Gospel of Peace
4. In front of us: shield of Faith
5. Head: helmet of Salvation
6. Sword of the Spirit: the only offensive weapon is the Word of God is our weapon (know scriptures to quote in prayer)

When we prepare — literally speak out our armour, and apply scripture as led by GOD as we pray, we are protected and equipped.
Too many of us pray in our own strength, which means our prayers are weaker than they otherwise could be, and we are not armed protectively, so we are attacked when or after we have prayed.
Let us fight the good fight, let us finish our races, fully prepared in battle to overcome the enemy as we pray.
Father, thank you for Rose’s comment. I shall create a follow-up post with the above in mind. May we both and all readers of your Word develop a deeper understanding of the power of prayer and the protection you provide.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you Rose; thank you and God bless.
